Hello,

Following the success of last year’s festival, I have the pleasure of welcoming you to the second Welton Music and Arts Festival.

We love our village and want to see it thrive as it grows.  One of our greatest assets is our strong sense of community. Over the past 100 years, our village has grown from a dispersed collection of farms and cottage industries to one of Lincolnshire’s best places to live.

As our population grows, we want to invest in our village’s social calendar and bring our community together. The Welton Music and Arts Festival provides a fantastic opportunity to do this to include all ages in our community with a selection of different genres of entertainment.

We have an exceptional line-up featuring folk and swing music, choirs, authors, interviews, creative workshops, comedy and a traditional village fête. So come and join us; there is something for everyone!

Best wishes

Cllr Mrs Marlene Chapman

John Mann is a longstanding Jongleurs compere who has previously supported Phill Jupitus and Lenny Henry on tour.

Peter Brush unassumingly takes the stage with his slight bespectacled frame and scruffy hair, before consummately conquering it with an arsenal of razor sharp quirky one-liners and peerlessly original routines.

Jules O’Brian is Brummie based and performs around the country, telling anyone who will listen about ageing disgracefully, body hang–ups, parenting and dating. This former teacher’s relaxed, chatty style, crowd interaction and warmth, all served with a sardonic wit, make her a natural crowd pleaser.

Art Exhibition in St Mary’s Church

by students from William Farr School and St Mary’s Primary Academy

(Come and view during the Festival when the Church is open)

'The Times That We're Living In'

What responsibilities do you have to protect and respect our seas? How can you share wisdom and persevere on the path of life? Together, let's celebrate friendship and show compassion. A group of WFS students visited the Lincoln Museum to see Grayson Perry's tapestries and studied his themes, intentions and processes. In response to Perry's storytelling, students across a range of year groups at WFS have designed and created three pieces that explore ‘The times that we're living in.' Across the three artworks William Farr's six core values are represented. The pieces are titled: 'Save our seas,' 'Spread your wings,' and 'Savour these moments,' each narrate and reflect on a range of important aspects within the times that we’re living in. Other pieces displayed in the church also reflect on WFS's core values, created by year 7, 8 and 9 students. The artwork created by Welton St Mary's Primary Academy is a collaborative piece that incorporates their school values, specifically focusing on peace, harmony and trust. Together the artworks celebrate the creativity of the students from our very special village of Welton.
